BELIZE is located in the Caribbean seaboard of Central America. Mexico lies to the North. Guatemala to the west and the Caribbean islands to the east. It was a British colony known as British Honduras from 1862 to 1973. ST. VINCENT is part of the State of St. Vincent & the Grenadines which consists of a number of smaller islands. It is said that when Christopher Columbus, on his second voyage in 1493 saw the clouds, he thought it was snow, so he called the island, "Nuestra senora de las nieves" which means "Our lady of the snows"; thus the name Nevis. The interior of the island is graced with a lush tropical rain forest that complements the beauty of the coastline and provides eco-tourism lovers with paradise.
